Adult Acne Treatments
We are now seeing more people
developing acne in adulthood; possible reasons for this are
diet, lifestyle and more synthetic hormones in our environment
(foods, water, plastics and certainmedication). You can help
regulate your hormones by such things as:
• Using relaxation techniques,
such as Yoga and deep breathing
• Avoiding caffeine — caffeine
stimulates hormone production
• Exercising — exercise
rebalances hormones and reduces stress
• Drinking still mineral
water, preferably in glass
bottles
• Avoiding foods stored in
plastic
packaging
• Eating organic produce where
possible

Stress and
Acne
Stress is often linked to
acne, whether it’s caused by school, college, work,
relationships or money. Stress causes the production of
hormones, such as cortisol, which can aggravate acne. Stress
also causes the digestive system to slow down because the body
takes blood away from the stomach and intestines to prepare
your muscles for ‘flight’, our instinctive response to stress;
this in itself is often linked to acne.
Exercise
and Acne
Moderate exercise is actually
good for your skin. It helps you maintain a healthy body and manage your stress
levels. If you find your acne is aggravated by regular
exercise then you may want to examine your routine.
Exercise related acne is usually caused by something you
put on your body.
When exercising wear as little
make up as possible. Even oil-free cosmetics can clog pores if
worn during heavy exercise. When you are done exercising wash
as soon as possible. Don’t sit around in wet sweaty clothes. If
possible, shower off immediately and change into dry clothes.
When toweling sweat from your face, always use a clean towel
and blot gently rather wipe. Vigorous wiping can irritate your
skin and cause pores to clog.
Food and
Acne
The fact is that after
extensive study, scientists have not found a connection between
acne and diet. Yet that doesn’t mean that a healthy diet is not
important to having healthy skin. You should avoid foods that
are high in sugar and fat.
Here is a list of good foods for healthy
skin:
Vitamin A -
Found in fish oils, liver and dairy products. Also
yellow/orange fruits and vegetables as well as green
vegetables. Do not overdo Vitamin A as it can be
toxic.
Vitamin B -2
Found in whole grains, fish, milk, eggs, meat and leafy
green vegetables.
Vitamin B -
3 Found in peanuts, eggs, avocados, liver and lean
meats.
Vitamin E -
Found in almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, broccoli, wheat
germ and vegetable oils.
In addition, Zinc which is found
in eggs, whole grains, nuts and mushrooms.
Drink lots of water and eat a
healthy balanced diet.
Acne
Medication
If you have attempted the more
simpler remedies and they have not worked to combat your acne
then perhaps you will need to get assistance by using either or
both a topical treatment and/or oral acne medication. This just
means that your system requires additional methods to combat
your adult acne. Everyone is different when it comes to
combating acne.
